Russia scales up sabotage in Europe using "cheap agents" - CCD

Russia is ramping up hybrid operations in EU countries, massively recruiting perpetrators via the internet. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC of Ukraine (CCD) with reference to the head of the Polish Internal Security Agency, Rafał Syrysko, UNN reports.

Details

It is noted that these are so-called "cheap agents" used for arson, surveillance, information gathering, and other acts of sabotage.

Poland is already recording an increase in the number of such incidents. According to the Polish side, radicalized youth, representatives of the criminal underworld, and foreigners are actively involved in such activities. Some of the perpetrators may not even realize they are acting in the interests of Russian intelligence services,

- the report says.

It is indicated that the Kremlin uses this tactic due to its simplicity, low cost, and the ability to minimize direct links to Russian intelligence services. At the same time, Moscow is gradually moving towards creating more organized sabotage networks involving trained operatives.

"By scaling up the hybrid war against the West, the Russian Federation seeks to destabilize the situation in Europe, undermine trust in state institutions, and influence the level of public support for Ukraine," the CCD concludes.
