Regional electric trains in Ukraine have been equipped with air conditioning for the first time, Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Thursday, UNN writes.

Details

"A new standard of travel: Ukrzaliznytsia has installed air conditioning in regional electric trains for the first time. Regional electric trains running on the well-known Rivne - Lviv - Rivne route, as well as on the new Kyiv - Khmelnytskyi - Kyiv route, are already equipped with air conditioning," UZ reported.

As noted, these are two modernized electric trains, ER9M-502 and ER9E-630, "which railway workers repaired themselves at the company's facilities."

"Currently, railway workers are completing the renovation of another electric train with air conditioning, which will soon enter service on routes in the Odesa region as part of a state order for passenger transportation. By the end of the year, it is planned to modernize more than 5 more such trains," the company reported.

Alternative to trains

"In addition to traveling with a comfortable temperature on these routes, for passengers, this is also an alternative to long-distance trains between Kyiv and Lviv. The most convenient way to travel from the capital to Lviv is with a transfer in Khmelnytskyi: first by regional train No. 857K Kyiv - Khmelnytskyi, and then transfer to train No. 825 Khmelnytskyi - Ternopil - Lviv. The wait between trips is about 2 hours," UZ noted.

The company noted that these flights are part of a new program of state orders for domestic rail passenger transportation. "This is effectively a prototype of the European PSO model — state ordering of socially important transport services — and the creation of a transparent and predictable system for financing passenger rail transportation," UZ indicated.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrzaliznytsia has reportedly already modernized 52 electric trains.
