Zelenskyy did not directly answer the question about the possibility of Ukraine receiving German Taurus cruise missiles, suggesting that Scholz should be asked about it.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not directly answer the question about the possibility of Ukraine receiving German Taurus cruise missiles, suggesting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz be asked about it. He said this in an interview with Le Monde and BFMTV published on March 11, UNN reports.
Details
When asked if he expects to receive German Taurus missiles one day, Zelensky said: "You need to ask Olaf Scholz (German Chancellor) this question."
Addendum
Scholz rejects the supply of Taurus missiles with a range of 500 kilometers to Ukraine, as he fears that this could draw Germany into a war.
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed his intention to "work closely with our German partners to help Ukraine." Cameron also considers a circular exchange possible, which could allay Scholz's concerns.
In a circular exchange, Germany could give the UK Taurus cruise missiles, and London, in turn, could supply Ukraine with new Storm Shadow missiles.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock described the UK's proposal as "option".
However, Scholz says that there is no new status regarding the delivery of Taurus , even after the British offer.
