Odesa was hit by a heavy downpour: flooding, blocked streets, and changes in traffic movement

A heavy downpour hit Odesa, with reports of flooding online, while authorities say streets are blocked and traffic routes are changing, reports UNN.

"The downpour has subsided for now. Utility services continue to work on the roads and in flooded areas," the Odesa City Council stated.

According to the Odesa City Council, due to worsening weather conditions, the city's utility services are operating in an enhanced mode to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather.

Traffic has been temporarily suspended or passage restricted:

• Frantsuzkyi Boulevard, 34 — work is underway to clear a fallen tree;
• Balkivska Street — traffic is temporarily restricted due to flooding near the Bus Station, from Malovsky Street to Righteous Among the Nations Street (Chervonoslobidska);
• Prymorska Street from Gazovy Lane to Viiskovyi Descent;
• Frantsuzkyi Boulevard from Huly-Hulenka Street (Azarova) to Lesia Ukrainka Avenue;
• Serednyofontanska Street from Serednyofontanska Square to Misyachny Lane.

Possible traffic slowdown (special equipment is operating): Inhlezi Street, 10 and 14; Akademika Filatova Street, 90; Lyustdorfska Road, 11.

"We appeal to residents and guests of the city not to leave vehicles on storm drain grates and under trees, and if possible, to limit travel around the city," the statement reads.

It is also reported that "due to weather conditions, tram routes No. 20, 21, 12, 13 are temporarily not running." Another four tram routes and one trolleybus route have been changed.

DTEK Odesa Power Grids reports that "in part of the Odesa district, power went out due to a local network accident. Specialists are already working to restore electricity supply."
