Iran moved its 2026 World Cup base from the USA to Mexico due to security risks. FIFA has officially approved the change of the national team's training location.

The Iran national team has changed the location of its base camp for the 2026 World Cup, moving it from the USA to Mexico. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.

Mehdi Taj, President of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that the decision was made after consultations with FIFA and the tournament organizers. According to him, the international federation approved Tehran's request to change the team's base location.
Previously, the Iranian team planned to train in Tucson, Arizona; however, the move became possible due to uncertainty surrounding the situation in the Middle East and security concerns.

The national team will now be based in Tijuana, Mexico, near the US border.
Iran to play group stage matches in the USA
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Iran will play its Group G matches against New Zealand and Belgium in Inglewood near Los Angeles, as well as against Egypt in Seattle.
The Football Federation of Iran stated that Tijuana has all the necessary infrastructure for the team, including training pitches, a gym, and separate facilities for the national squad.
