Berlin will close the Russian Federation's consulate in Bonn and terminate the agreement concerning the "Russian House." Germany will tighten controls on the entry of Russian citizens.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced a diplomatic response to the hybrid attack at Leipzig Airport — Berlin will close the Russian consulate in Bonn and the “Russian House” in Berlin, UNN reports.

According to the German foreign minister, entry checks on Russian citizens will be tightened, and the Russian ambassador will also be summoned for explanations: “This summons is being issued at this moment.”
In addition, the government will take further measures “in the area of intelligence services” and continue efforts to strengthen its own defense capabilities and deter Russia. Germany “will resolutely continue” supporting Ukraine.

After consultations with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Wadephul also ordered the closure of the Russian general consulate in Bonn as of September 18. “The agreement on the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated,” he added.
