Germany is considering buying four additional Patriot missile defense systems worth 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion) in addition to the four ordered by Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government in March
It is noted that the plans are at an early stage, and officials are still evaluating how to finance the expanded order, which could raise the total cost to about 2.6 billion euros.
Thus, the Scholz government may double the size of the order to eight Patriot air defense systems.
A Defense Ministry spokesperson in Berlin declined to comment on specific procurement projects, instead referring generally to the government's desire to better equip the armed forces.
