Law enforcement officers detained an employee of a Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) in Odesa region who, for 500 liters of diesel fuel, removed individuals from the wanted list and facilitated the reservation of military conscripts. This was reported by UNN with reference to the National Police of Ukraine.

Details

The bribe-taker was exposed by investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Odesa region, together with employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in Odesa region.

As the investigation established, the deputy head of a critically important enterprise approached the head of one of the departments of the Odesa Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support to clarify the procedure for paying a fine for a man who is wanted by the TRC and whom he wants to employ at his enterprise.

Instead, the serviceman stated that he would help "resolve the issue" in exchange for vouchers for 500 liters of diesel fuel, with a total value of nearly 45,000 hryvnias. In case of refusal to provide the reward, the dealer warned of possible negative consequences for the conscript related to his mobilization. However, the representative of the critical enterprise reported this to law enforcement agencies, and police and SBU officers documented the crime and stopped the illegal actions of the suspect.

The detainee was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Receipt by an official of an unlawful benefit for himself for committing or not committing any action by such official in the interests of the person providing the unlawful benefit, or in the interests of a third party, using official position, committed by an official holding a responsible position, combined with extortion).

The sanction provides for imprisonment from 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.
