The Kyrgyz Republic, or Kyrgyzstan, is a sovereign country located in Central Asia, geographically isolated by its mountainous terrain. The capital is Bishkek. The population, as of 2024, consists mainly of Kyrgyz (77.8%), Uzbeks (14.2%), and Russians (3.8%). The history of the Kyrgyz people and land dates back over 3000 years. The country was inhabited by Turkic nomads, experienced the Mongol conquest, and later regained independence.
