Two minors who attacked women in Kyiv’s Podilskyi District have been arrested. The 16- and 17-year-old boys struck their victims with a knife and brass knuckles, seriously injuring one woman.

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained two teenagers who, according to investigators, attacked women in the Podilskyi district. The assailants struck their victims with a knife and a knuckle-duster. This was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv, UNN writes.

The pre-trial investigation established that the suspects are local residents of the Podilskyi district, aged 16 and 17. In the evening, the youths consumed alcoholic beverages, after which they proceeded to commit crimes

Thus, at Poshtova Square, the assailants provoked a conflict and attacked a 48-year-old local resident. The 17-year-old attacker struck her in the face with a knuckle-duster, while his younger accomplice inflicted two stab wounds to her abdomen. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition.

Later that same evening, while walking along Mezhyhirska Street, the suspects attacked a 43-year-old Kyiv resident, and one of them struck her in the face with a knuckle-duster, causing a brain contusion and other injuries.

Operatives, with the assistance of criminal analysis officers, located the attackers, and investigators detained them pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the Podilskyi Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Podilskyi District Prosecutor's Office, notified both minors that they were suspected under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism involving the use of an object prepared in advance for inflicting bodily injuries. The 16-year-old, who inflicted stab wounds on the woman, is also charged under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily harm.

Currently, the Podilskyi District Court has imposed preventive measures on the suspects: detention for the 16-year-old and 24-hour house arrest for his accomplice. They face up to eight and up to seven years in prison, respectively, for the crimes committed.
