As a result of a massive Russian attack, the Assumption Cathedral was damaged and people were killed. Zelenskyy called on the G7 for a decisive response and the provision of air defense systems.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reacting to the massive Russian attack that affected, among other sites, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, emphasized the importance of a decisive and meaningful response from the G7 countries as they gather for a summit, UNN reports.

"In Kyiv, the elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes continues, as well as in Kharkiv. This night alone, the Russians launched over 60 missiles at the capital. In total, 70 missiles and 611 drones were launched across Ukraine. As of now, 28 people are known to be injured and four dead in the capital. My condolences to all the families and loved ones," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
Due to the Russian strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the President pointed out, the Dormition Cathedral—a church whose history dates back to the 11th century—was on fire. "And this is today one of the greatest Russian crimes against Christian culture. The State Emergency Service has already extinguished the fire on the roof of the cathedral," he noted.
"In Kharkiv, the Russians launched a repeat strike on our rescuers who were extinguishing a fire at the site of a strike on an enterprise. As of now, it is known that, unfortunately, five people have died. My condolences to all the families and loved ones. Nine people were injured. In Dnipro, Russia struck the territory of a railway station, a college, and enterprises," Zelenskyy stated.
There were also strikes on other cities and communities. "The Kyiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions were also under attack," the President reported.
This is how Russia shows the world its intentions to continue the war. It is very important that there be a response from the "Group of Seven" countries, who are currently gathering for a summit, and that it be decisive and meaningful: more pressure on the aggressor, more assistance to Ukraine with air defense, primarily anti-ballistic systems.
