Kyiv • UNN
FAO and WFP predict an intensification of the food crisis in 13 regions by November 2026. Acute hunger threatens 266 million people due to conflicts.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) have warned of the risk of worsening acute hunger in 13 global hotspots in the coming months. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.
Details
A joint report states that from June to November 2026, the food crisis could intensify due to conflicts, climate shocks, and reductions in humanitarian funding. Currently, high levels of acute food insecurity threaten approximately 266 million people.
The greatest concerns are Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, and Palestine. Nigeria and Somalia were also included in this category due to the increasing risk of famine.
Call to Action
According to UN agencies, funding for food assistance has decreased by approximately 59% compared to 2022, while needs continue to grow.
The warnings set out in this report cannot be ignored. If action is not taken now, millions of people are expected to face worsening levels of hunger in the coming months,
The FAO and WFP also warned that food security could be further impacted by conflicts in the Middle East, an Ebola outbreak in Congo, and the El Niño weather phenomenon, which is capable of causing droughts and floods in vulnerable regions.
