"The EU is not going anywhere, we are staying in Kyiv" - Ambassador Mathernová responds to Russia's threats

The European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, called the statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry threatening Kyiv a masterpiece of hypocrisy, adding that the EU is going nowhere and remains with Ukraine, UNN reports.

Russia is again threatening diplomats and foreigners, asking us to leave Kyiv. But we are not going anywhere! Today's statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia is a masterpiece of hypocrisy

- Mathernová wrote on her Facebook page.

The diplomat noted that a regime that has for years bombed residential buildings, museums, maternity hospitals, schools, and power plants is suddenly speaking the language of "international humanitarian law" and the "Geneva Conventions." The same regime that carries out missile and drone attacks on civilians every night is now warning others to stay away.

We understand exactly what this means. Russia wants fear. Panic. The isolation of Ukraine. It will not work. The EU is going nowhere. We are staying in Kyiv. We are staying with Ukraine. Threats to diplomats and international organizations are not a sign of strength. They are a sign of desperation

- Mathernová added.

According to her, the more aggressive and threatening the Kremlin becomes, the clearer it becomes that the Putin regime understands it cannot break Ukraine's resilience, nor the support of its partners.

Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands. And so do we

- Mathernová concluded.
