Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the deliberate attack on the LPG tanker near Romania is another example of Russian terror. He called for strengthening sanctions and pressure on Russia.
Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha reacted to Russia's strike on the vessel Gas Lisbon near Romania, stating that it "once again demonstrated that the Kremlin disregards both international maritime law and the lives of civilians," and called for a response, reports UNN.
The Russian war threatens not only Ukraine but also poses a direct threat to freedom of navigation, maritime security in the Black Sea, and NATO's eastern flank. "It injured civilian crew members, jeopardized the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, and once again demonstrated that the Kremlin disregards both international maritime law and the lives of civilians," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued.
Sybiha noted that "we are grateful to Romania for the swift rescue operation, unwavering solidarity with Ukraine, and a clear understanding that Russia's reckless actions threaten the security of the entire Black Sea region."
"Ukraine remains committed to deepening cooperation with Romania and all our partners to strengthen Black Sea security. The response must match the scale of the threat. Strengthening sanctions. Increasing pressure on Russia. Full accountability for every act of aggression. The aggressor must be forced to stop the war," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
