Kyiv • UNN
The German President has dismissed Chancellor Scholz and the ministers of his cabinet. Scholz will temporarily serve as acting head until a new government is formed.
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has officially dismissed Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and 14 ministers of his cabinet. This is reported by UNN with reference to Die Zeіt.
Details
It is noted that after the inaugural session of the new Bundestag, Steinmeier praised the already former composition of the federal government for its work and presented them with certificates of dismissal at the Bellevue Palace.
As the Federal Government, you very often had to act very quickly and decisively
In particular, he recalled the coronavirus pandemic, Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza.
Steinmeier thanked the Chancellor primarily for his reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling it a "huge feat of strength"
The publication indicates that the powers of the Federal Chancellor end with the convening of the new Bundestag. Scholz and his ministers are no longer de jure in office, but coalition negotiations on a new government have not yet been completed. Therefore, Steinmeier has already asked Scholz to continue to manage the official affairs of his cabinet as acting until a new federal government is appointed.
