Pope reacts to Russian strike on Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Pope Leo XIV condemned the Russian strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and called for asking the Lord to open paths of dialogue and make a just and lasting peace possible, UNN reports.

Disturbing news is arriving about the war in Ukraine, which continues to expand. There are many innocent victims, rescuers have died, and churches and cultural heritage sites have been destroyed by fire. I stand in solidarity with all those who mourn their loved ones, with the wounded, and with those who, amidst the violence, continue to courageously serve life

- the Pope wrote on the social network X.

He also called for prayers that this war would end.

Let us ask the Lord to open paths of dialogue, extinguish hatred, and make a just and lasting peace possible

– the Pope concluded.
