Killing of humanitarian workers in Gaza: video refutes IDF version

Video from the scene of the tragedy in Gaza contradicts the IDF's statements about the shelling of a convoy of humanitarian workers. Israel admitted the initial version was incorrect and is conducting an investigation.
The Israeli army admitted that their initial version of the shooting incident that took place in one of the districts of the city of Rafah in March 2025 turned out to be incorrect. UNN reports with reference to Euronews and Times of Israel.
Context
On March 23, a convoy of ambulances of the Palestinian Red Crescent, a UN vehicle and a fire engine of the Gaza Civil Defense came under fire near Rafah. Eight members of the Red Crescent, six members of the Civil Defense Forces and one UN employee were killed.
Initially, Israel claimed that troops opened fire because the convoy approached "suspiciously" in the dark, without headlights or flashing lights. It was pointed out that the movement of vehicles was not pre-coordinated or agreed with the army.

The Deputy Head of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Marwan Jilani, published a video recording made on a mobile phone by one of the dead paramedics. This phone, on which the video was recorded, was found in the pocket of one of the killed employees.
The video shows that the cars had their headlights on as they drove to a call to provide assistance to the wounded.
The organization stated that it sent a copy of the material to the UN Security Council.

The footage shows a convoy of representatives of the Red Crescent and Civil Defense Forces heading to the scene after contact with the damaged ambulance was lost. Footage from the dashboard of one of the cars shows several ambulances and a fire truck driving in the dark. Emergency lighting is on all the way.
They reach an ambulance on the side of the road and stop next to it, headlights still on. Israeli forces are not visible.
A man in the car says: "Oh God, may they be safe..." Then he shouts: "They are scattered on the ground!" - probably referring to the corpses. Three men in orange civil defense uniforms get out of the cars and head to the ambulance.
The sound of gunfire is heard, one of the men apparently falls to the ground. Shooting begins.
Reference to the incident
On March 23, from approximately 3:50 a.m., ambulances were heading to Tal-Sultan to provide assistance to the wounded. According to Jilani, the first ambulance returned with the victim. However, the ambulances were later shelled.
Israel needs explanations
According to the Times of Israel, the army admitted last night that its initial version of the incident, received about two weeks ago, was incorrect.
In response to the incident, the Chief of the General Staff of the IDF, Hertzi Ha-Levi, called it the result of "misdiagnosis under difficult circumstances" and stated that the attack was a "serious mistake" that should not have happened.
The IDF claims that the troops did not execute anyone and did not try to hide anything.
Hertzi Ha-Levi apologized and announced that an internal investigation is being conducted to fully investigate the incident.
The case will be re-investigated and transferred to the Chief of the General Staff, Ejal Zamir.
