Kallas: Russia interested in protracted US-Iran war

Russia is committing one of the most egregious violations of international law in the history of the United Nations, invading a sovereign country and disregarding its obligations as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. This was stated by the head of the bloc's diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, during the annual meeting of the Security Council on cooperation between the EU and the UN, UNN reports.

Details

According to her, events in Ukraine and the Middle East demonstrate a departure from established international rules, including the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. At the same time, the war in the Middle East has caused enormous instability, claimed too many lives, and is no longer "regional."

Russia also supports Iran with intelligence and drones. The continuation of the war is beneficial to Russia due to higher energy prices, depletion of air defense arsenals, and distraction of attention.

- Kallas emphasized.

She said she had just returned from a visit to the Persian Gulf region.

"Their roads, airports, hotels, energy infrastructure, and other civilian infrastructure have been affected by the same tools that are wreaking havoc in Ukraine," the diplomat noted.
