Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all vessels following a new wave of American strikes on the country's territory. This was reported by CNN, according to UNN.

Details

In a statement published on its official Telegram channel, the IRGC claims that from now on, passage through the strategically important strait is prohibited for any vessels, including oil tankers and the merchant fleet.

"From this very minute, due to instability in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. Any vessel attempting to pass through the strait will be a target,"

– the IRGC stated.

At the same time, U.S. Central Command denied this information, stating that commercial vessels continue to move through the strait. The Iranian side rejected these assertions.

According to JPMorgan, shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has already significantly decreased due to the prolonged conflict. Currently, traffic volume is about 15% of pre-war levels.

In addition, Iranian state media reported strikes on the Minab and Sirik areas in the south of the country near the Strait of Hormuz. Air defense systems were also activated in the area of the Asaluyeh energy hub on the Persian Gulf coast.

At the same time, Iranian state television noted that no attacks on the energy complex itself, where oil refineries and petrochemical plants are located, have been recorded so far.
