US imposes sanctions on Chinese and Hong Kong companies over arms supplies to Iran

The US has imposed sanctions against 11 entities from China, Hong Kong, and Belarus. The restrictions concern the procurement of weapons for Iran and the operation of secret banking networks.

The United States has introduced a new package of sanctions against 11 individuals and legal entities involved in supporting arms procurement for Iran. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the US Department of the Treasury, according to UNN.

According to the American agency, the sanctions targeted companies and individuals who assisted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian military in obtaining necessary components and equipment.
Companies from China and Hong Kong fell under the restrictions
The US Department of the Treasury noted that nine entities on the sanctions list are citizens or companies from China and Hong Kong. According to Washington, they facilitated the procurement of weaponry for the Iranian armed forces.
