Germany is developing a plan to support thousands of U.S. troops that could be deployed to NATO's eastern front, including logistics, in the event of a potential armed conflict with Russia.

The German army leadership  is developing a plan to support thousands of US troops who could be sent to NATO's eastern flank in the event of war, Bundeswehr Lieutenant General Andre Bodemann said in an interview with the German newspaper FAZ, UNN reports with reference to the British edition of the Telegraph

According to a Bundeswehr lieutenant general, the German army is developing a new, long-term security plan with a focus on civilian defense.

Most of the details of the plan are state secrets, but a senior officer said that the plan includes the logistics of food for a large number of American soldiers, with the main contribution coming from civilians.

If, for example, an American division was moving east, thousands of tanks, thousands of soldiers, they would need to be fed, and the tanks would need to be refueled or perhaps repaired

- He said in an interview with FAZ.

According to him, the Bundeswehr would probably be involved in the logistics of German soldiers.  And the US military would be assisted by civilians.

"The convoy would receive fuel from gas stations or civilian vehicles, the Red Cross would provide medical care, and food would be supplied by civilian catering. It would be a classic case," said the lieutenant general.

According to the newspaper, Bodemann's comments came during the visit of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Berlin, where he said that European countries should follow London's example in increasing defense spending.

According to the Telegraph, the lieutenant general's statements are the latest evidence that Germany is preparing for a potential armed conflict with Russia over the next five years.
