General Staff refutes Russian fake about Ukrainian drone attack on bus carrying children's football team in Bryansk region

Statements by representatives of Russia regarding the alleged strike by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a bus carrying a children's football team in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation are untrue. This was stated by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports UNN

Statements by representatives of the Russian Federation regarding the alleged strike by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a bus carrying a children's football team in the Bryansk region are untrue. We emphasize that during the specified period, the Defense Forces of Ukraine did not use unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of the Bryansk region

- the statement reads.

The General Staff stated that they regard such reports as another information provocation by the Kremlin.

Unable to achieve stated goals on the battlefield and suffering significant losses, the Russian Federation increasingly resorts to information manipulation and fabrication of accusations against Ukraine. At the same time, it is Russia that systematically violates the norms of international humanitarian law by striking Ukrainian cities, residential neighborhoods, hospitals, schools, and other civilian objects. As a result of recent missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, particularly on Kyiv, dozens of civilians were killed, including children. The Armed Forces of Ukraine strike exclusively legitimate military targets and do not conduct combat operations against the civilian population

- the General Staff added.

Separately, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, stated that "the Russians saw that the Belarusians do not want to support Russian aggressive rhetoric regarding Ukraine, and invented a 'terrorist attack on a bus with Belarusian children in the Bryansk region,' in the hope of inciting the Belarusian population to support aggressive actions against Ukraine through this information provocation."

The provocation itself is pathetic and has all the hallmarks of a coordinated operation without any factual evidence. Typical for Russian Federation propagandists

- Kovalenko stated.

Addendum

Today, June 17, the acting governor of the Bryansk region stated that the Ukrainian military allegedly attacked a bus with children, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to children.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus stated that they regard the attack as an act of terrorism against the civilian population and blamed Ukraine for the strike.

We demand exhaustive explanations from the Ukrainian side. In connection with this tragic incident, we consider it important to note the following. We draw attention to the need for strict compliance with the procedure for organizing the departure of groups of citizens, especially children, for health improvement and recreation to foreign states. We also emphasize the mandatory nature of the unconditional ban on citizens traveling to conflict zones, combat areas, and regions adjacent to them

- the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

As a reminder

On Tuesday evening, June 16, the Russians attacked one of the districts of Zaporizhzhia.
