Details

According to the SBU, an FSB agent with the operational pseudonym "Skif" was forming his own network of informants in Odesa region and trying to involve local law enforcement officials in it.  The informants were supposed to provide the Russian secret service with intelligence on the deployment and movement of the Defense Forces in southern Ukraine.

As the investigation established, the convict is a local resident who went to Moldova in the early 90s, where he took part in hostilities on the side of the so-called "PMR". Then, as part of the Russian special forces "Edelweiss", he fought in Dagestan and Chechnya.

In 2014, the traitor arrived in Odesa to commit mass riots in favor of the Russian Federation, for which he was put on the wanted list by Ukrainian law enforcement.

After that, the man fled to unrecognized Transnistria, where in 2019 he was recruited by two representatives of the FSB's local "branch" to carry out the FSB's tasks.

In early October of this year, as part of a special operation, the SBU removed the "Scythian" from the territory of unrecognized Transnistria. Then, according to the scenario of the Ukrainian special service, the Russian agent came to Odesa region to personally recruit an SBU employee. After that, law enforcement officers detained him.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the Russian agent "Skif" guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
