In September, Russia used almost 6,900 drones, including over 3,600 Shaheds, against Ukraine. To counter this, a Command of unmanned air defense systems is being formed and the crews of interceptor drones are being increased.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the strengthening of air defense in border and front-line regions. A Command of Unmanned Systems Air Defense is also being formed within the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia has modified its missiles to bypass Ukrainian air defense, as evidenced by months of devastating airstrikes. Ukrainian forces intercepted 37% of ballistic missiles in July, but this figure dropped to 6% in September.
During September 2025, the air defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 10,215 air targets. Air Force aviation carried out 327 sorties, destroying 516 air targets.
On the night of October 1, Russia attacked Ukraine with an Onyx missile, four ballistic missiles, and 49 drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down 44 UAVs, and 5 missiles and UAVs were recorded as hitting their targets.
On the night of September 30, Russia attacked Ukraine with 65 Shahed and Gerbera-type attack UAVs. Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 46 enemy drones in the north, south, east, and center of the country.
Russia plans to increase air strikes and the number of weapons on the territory of Ukraine. During the last attack, the enemy used almost 600 drones and 50 missiles, which led to the death of four people.
On the night of September 29, Russia launched 32 drones of various types at Ukraine. Air defense forces neutralized 23 of them in the north and east of the country; 9 hits were recorded.
Yurii Ihnat, head of the Air Force's communications department, urged people not to share videos of drone and missile debris after Russia's massive attack on Kyiv. He emphasized that such videos could be used by Russian propaganda.
The Ukrainian Air Force detected and tracked 643 Russian aerial attack assets, neutralizing 611 of them. The main strike targeted Kyiv, with destroyed targets including UAVs, cruise missiles, and jet drones.
On the night of September 28, Russia launched Kh-101/555 cruise missiles from the Saratov region. Missiles are expected to approach the borders of Ukraine around 5-6 AM, air defense forces are ready to repel the attack.
On the night of September 28, explosions were recorded in the Khmelnytskyi region after a large-scale alert was declared due to the take-off of a MiG-31K. Additionally, a UAV threat has been announced, with most of them heading to Kyiv.
On the night of September 27, Russia attacked Ukraine with 115 Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of attack UAVs. The Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down/suppressed 97 enemy drones in the north, south, east, and center of the country.
During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with 154 drones, 128 of which were shot down or suppressed. Hits by 26 attack UAVs were recorded at 9 locations.
Special forces of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine burned two An-26 transport aircraft and hit the coastal radar station MR-10M1 "Mys M1" in temporarily occupied Crimea. The losses were recorded in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's report for September 24, 2025.
During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with three ballistic missiles and 115 drones. Air defense forces neutralized 103 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported shooting down 132 out of 141 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types overnight. Nine attack UAVs were recorded hitting 7 locations, and downed debris fell in 8 locations.
Russia attacked Ukraine with 54 UAVs, including Shahed, from Kursk, Millerovo, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Air defense forces shot down 33 enemy UAVs, but 21 attack UAVs hit 8 locations in the north, east, and center of the country.
The Ukrainian Air Force showed footage of combat operations against Russian targets, including anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile fire groups. Ukrainian air defense shot down 31 out of 40 missiles and 552 out of 579 drones launched by Russia on the night of September 20.
Overnight, Russia launched 86 attack UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types against Ukraine, of which 71 were shot down or suppressed. Hits by 15 drones and debris falling in several locations were recorded.
During the night, Ukraine repelled an attack of 75 enemy drones, 48 of which were neutralized. 26 UAVs were hit at 6 locations.
During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with a ballistic missile, an S-300 missile, and 172 drones. Air defense forces neutralized 136 drones, and missile strikes and 36 UAVs were recorded at 13 locations.
Russia carried out a night attack on Ukraine with 113 attack UAVs, 89 of which were neutralized by air defense forces. The enemy also shelled Zaporizhzhia with ten MLRS shells, resulting in deaths and injuries.
On the night of September 16, a series of loud explosions occurred in Zaporizhzhia amid an announced air raid alert due to ballistic missiles. There is no official information from the authorities yet, and the threat remains.
On the night of September 15, Russia launched three S-300 missiles and 84 drones at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense neutralized 59 enemy UAVs.
On the night of September 14, Ukrainian military repelled an aerial attack, shooting down or suppressing 52 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types. There was also an attack by an Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile, with a missile hit and 6 attack UAVs recorded.
On the night of September 13, Russia attacked Ukraine with 164 drones and a ballistic missile. Air defense forces destroyed 137 UAVs; a missile and 27 drones hit their targets.
On the night of September 12, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled an attack by enemy drones, shooting down 33 Shahed, Gerbera, and other types of drones. Six attack UAVs were recorded hitting targets in the north, east, and center of the country.
On the night of September 11, Russia attacked Ukraine with 66 attack UAVs, including over 50 Shahed. Air defense forces shot down 62 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have "destroyed" Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, while simultaneously denying involvement in the fall of UAV debris on Polish territory. The occupiers assert that their drones could not have reached Poland, despite documented incursions.
