U.S. Vice President JD Vance has postponed a planned visit to Switzerland, where he was to lead a new round of negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program. The White House stated that the U.S. delegation led by Vance was ready to depart, but the trip was postponed due to complex logistical circumstances. Meanwhile, the Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that Iran is also delaying the dispatch of its delegation due to ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Earlier, Vance publicly defended the agreement to extend the ceasefire regime for 60 days and further negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. According to him, further easing of sanctions will depend on Tehran's fulfillment of its commitments.
"When they increase their good behavior, we can increase economic relief. If they decrease their good behavior, we can turn it off,"
The postponement of negotiations comes amid criticism of the agreement from some American politicians who believe that Washington has made excessive concessions to Iran. Among the complaints are the easing of sanctions and the possibility of creating a fund of up to $300 billion for the country's reconstruction.
