Germany and its NATO partners may provide Ukraine with seven additional Patriot air defense systems to strengthen its ability to counter Russian attacks.

NATO partners may provide Ukraine with six Patriot systems to strengthen its air defense. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a briefing, UNN reports.

Details

According to him,  Ukraine now needs the support of international partners. Kyiv especially needs air defense.

Germany has taken very large-scale measures to equip Ukraine with small and large systems. But even with the large Patriot system, after the two systems we have already delivered, with the third system, we are now the country that makes the most significant contribution here.  We have several of these systems that are operating in NATO countries, and we could decide to provide them with another system so that they can better withstand many of the attacks that Ukraine is currently experiencing. Defense is possible. And we hope that there will be six more

- Scholz said.

According to the Chancellor, the Alliance has made it clear that systems available in NATO countries can be transferred to enable Ukraine to better defend itself against numerous Russian attacks.

We have several of these systems that are in place in NATO countries, and we could decide to provide them with another system so that they can better withstand the many attacks that Ukraine is currently experiencing. (...) We have heard about seven additional systems. One of them is ours. We still hope to find six more in the NATO context, and I have again used this opportunity in many negotiations to make this point

- said the German Chancellor.
