Ukraine evacuates 34 people from Syria: 15 of them are children

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine have successfully evacuated 31 Ukrainians and 3 Syrian citizens from Syria via Lebanon. The evacuees, including 15 children, have already landed in Chisinau and are on their way to Ukraine.
Today, 34 people have been evacuated from Syria via Lebanon - 31 Ukrainian citizens and three Syrian citizens, relatives of Ukrainian citizens with the legal right to enter the territory of our country, UNN reports with reference to the GUR.
"...on the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as a result of a successful operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, 34 people were evacuated from Syria through Lebanon - 31 Ukrainian citizens and three Syrian citizens, relatives of Ukrainian citizens with the legal right to enter the territory of our country. There are 15 children among the group," the intelligence said.
The GUR noted that the evacuees have already landed at the Chisinau airport, from where they will continue to go home to Ukraine.
"I am grateful to the Military Intelligence of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon for the opportunity to return to Ukraine and see my family for the first time in 10 years," said the evacuated Ukrainian citizen.
"The important operation on rescue of Ukrainians from Syria is another proof that Ukraine helps its citizens - everywhere, everywhere and always. Military intelligence officers together with their colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are doing everything possible to protect the rights of our people, to help each and every one who is in trouble," emphasized Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.
Starting in August 2024, on the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out four stages of evacuation from Lebanon and rescued 302 people - 217 Ukrainians and 85 citizens of other countries.

The intelligence agency emphasized that it and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continue to provide all necessary assistance to Ukrainian citizens in the Middle East.
