The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned the use of force against peaceful protesters in Tbilisi and the suspension of EU accession negotiations. Ukraine has called on the Georgian authorities to respect the right to protest and return to European integration reforms.

Ukraine called on the Georgian authorities to respect the right of citizens to peaceful protest due to the government's decision to suspend negotiations with the EU,   and refrain from violence and provocations.

This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of foreign affairs.

We call on the country's authorities to respect the right of Georgian citizens to peaceful protest and refrain from violence and provocations. The aggravation of the situation in Georgia is a consequence of numerous violations in the October 26 parliamentary elections. All violations recorded by international observers should be investigated and those responsible brought to justice

- said in a statement of the foreign ministry.

It is noted that Ukraine is disappointed with the decision of the Georgian government to suspend EU accession negotiations until 2028.

This decision, as well as the use of force against a peaceful protest, is evidence of the curtailment of democratic processes in the country in favor of Moscow. It is not for nothing that the Georgian leadership has already received public praise from the Kremlin for its actions contrary to the European choice of its own people

- emphasizes the Foreign Ministry.

Ukraine calls on the Georgian government to respect the desire of the overwhelming majority of the Georgian people to be an integral part of a free and democratic Europe, and to return to implementing all the reforms necessary for the country to gain EU membership.
