The United States opposes Palestine's permanent membership in the UN, preferring direct negotiations between Palestine and Israel on the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
The United States of America wants the creation of an independent Palestinian state to take place through direct negotiations with Israel, not through Palestine's accession to the United Nations. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said this during a daily briefing, UNN reports .
