The US is initiating the creation of a new international coalition to restore free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz amid its blockade. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, according to UNN.

According to the publication, an internal State Department cable mentions the launch of a project called the Maritime Freedom Construct. The initiative is being implemented jointly with US Central Command.
The coalition is expected to bring countries together to share intelligence, coordinate diplomatic actions, and monitor sanctions compliance.

Reasons for creating the coalition
The Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil exports from the Persian Gulf countries, is effectively blocked amid the war between the US, Israel, and Iran.
Iran has restricted the movement of commercial vessels, and the US responded by announcing a blockade of Iranian ports. This has led to a sharp reduction in transit and a spike in global oil prices.
Possible participation of allies
Earlier, the United Kingdom and France expressed readiness to join efforts to ensure maritime security. At the same time, their position on the new US initiative has not yet been officially voiced.
The coalition is expected to become a key tool for influencing the situation in the region and stabilizing global energy markets.
