In the Khmelnytskyi region, an investigation continues into the crash of a Su-24M military bomber, which occurred during a training flight and claimed the lives of two pilots. Investigators have begun decoding the flight data recorder, which should help establish the causes of the tragedy. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, the circumstances of a military aircraft crash that resulted in the deaths of two pilots are being investigated.

Under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sphere of the Western region, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the plane crash that occurred on June 16, 2026, in the Shepetivka district

The information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Art. 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of flight rules or preparation for them, which caused grave consequences).

According to preliminary data, at approximately 7:05 PM, a Su-24M military aircraft crashed during a training flight. As a result of the aviation accident, two crew members died – pilots aged 55 and 23.

Priority investigative actions are currently underway. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy, including the technical condition of the aircraft, compliance with preparation and flight execution requirements, as well as other factors that could have led to the crash.

As part of the criminal proceedings, an internal investigation has been ordered within the military unit and the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A commission has been established within the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to investigate the aforementioned air disaster.

Measures are currently being taken to decode the flight data recorder, and the inspection of the scene continues.
