Military sources have dismissed Starmer's proposal to send troops to Ukraine after a ceasefire, calling it "political theater." The US also does not support this idea.

Starmer's peace plan for Ukraine criticized as "political theater" - The Telegraph

This month, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed a peacekeeping initiative, insisting that several countries are ready to send their troops as part of a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine after a truce with Russia is concluded. However, it was not supported by some British military and US authorities. This was reported by The Telegraph, writes UNN.

On Sunday, senior military sources dismissed the plans, telling The Telegraph that Starmer had "outstripped himself." This comes against the backdrop of the White House promising to reach a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia by April 20, that is, before Easter, which falls on these dates in the Western and Orthodox churches. However, the Kremlin downplayed expectations, saying that "difficult negotiations" are ahead and hinted that "they are just beginning."

One senior source in the army said it was "remotely impossible" to develop a plan to support Ukraine in this time.

"There is no defined military end state or military-strategic planning. It's all political theater. Starmer got ahead of himself talking about British boots on Ukrainian soil before he understood what he was talking about, so now we hear less about it and more about jets and ships that are easier to use and don't need to be based in Ukraine," The Telegraph quoted its source as saying.

Last week, The Telegraph reported that RAF fighters would guard the skies over Ukraine under proposals discussed by the coalition during a meeting of 30 countries at Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) in Northwood, west London.

It was suggested that British Typhoons could provide air cover for troops in Ukraine if foreign soldiers were sent there.

This weekend, Donald Trump's special representative dismissed plans to create a "coalition of willing." Steve Witkoff said the idea was based on a "simplified" view of the Prime Minister and other European leaders who believe that "we should all be like Winston Churchill."

"Neither Ukrainians nor Americans support a UK-led coalition, and coalition talks are complicated by the fact that "no one knows what the mission is," one military source said.

"There are about 700,000 Russians and over a million Ukrainians under arms in and around Ukraine. What should a 10,000-strong international force located in the west of the country 400 km from the front line do? He can't even protect himself. What is the mission? What is its legitimacy? What are the rules of engagement? How is it managed, supplied and deployed? How long is he there and why? No one knows," the source added.

Another source in defense added that Sir Keir was "running from the front."

"The Prime Minister himself visited PJHQ three days ago to receive detailed secret briefings on coalition operational planning. The UK's defense and our allies respect his hard work and the hard work of our military in developing already comprehensive plans for peace in Ukraine," the source said.

Earlier, UNN wrote that Britain is considering sending its fighters to Ukraine to protect from the air.
