Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met today with his American counterpart Marco Rubio, as US President Donald Trump signaled he is moving toward a "final solution" on a preliminary deal with Iran, UNN reports.

In recent months during the war in the Middle East, Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator between the US and Iran, playing a leading role in negotiations for a temporary ceasefire in April.
At the meeting in Washington, Rubio recognized Pakistan's "sincere diplomatic and mediation efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region and beyond," according to a statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.
From Washington's side: State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that Rubio thanked the Pakistani minister for the "constructive role Pakistan continues to play in realizing President Trump's vision for peace in the Middle East and its mediation efforts regarding Iran."
