U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Miami on Saturday as part of negotiations to end the war in Iran. This was reported by Axios, citing two knowledgeable sources, according to UNN.

According to the publication, the U.S. and Iran are currently discussing a one-page memorandum intended to formalize the cessation of hostilities and create a framework for further negotiations. Qatar plays a key role in mediating between the parties.
As of Saturday, Washington was still awaiting Tehran's final response regarding the American proposals.

Although Pakistan has served as the official mediator between the U.S. and Iran since the start of the war, Qatar has also been actively working behind the scenes of the negotiation process.

Several countries are involved in the negotiations
According to sources, the Prime Minister of Qatar met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Washington the day before. After that, he changed his plans to return to Doha and headed to Miami for talks with Rubio and Witkoff.
It is also reported that while in Miami, Al Thani held a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia regarding mediation efforts.
According to one of Axios' sources, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia are participating in the negotiations regarding a possible deal.
