Romanian F-16 shoots down third Russian drone in recent days

Romanian President reported the destruction of a Russian drone by an F-16 fighter. The downed drone turned out to be of the "Shahed" type, which is used by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, reported that on the morning of July 26, an F-16 fighter jet destroyed a Russian drone over the country's territorial waters. He wrote about this on the "X" network, reports UNN.

According to the President of Romania, the drone was shot down at 10:13 in the Sulina–Chilia area.
"I congratulate the Romanian pilots and ground crews for the professionalism, courage, and efficiency with which they carry out their tasks. Through their actions, they contribute to the protection of the national territory and the safety of Romanian citizens," stated Nicușor Dan.
The President also reported that, according to the results of the investigation by the General Prosecutor's Office of Romania, the drone shot down the previous day belongs to the "Shahed" type, which Russia uses during the war against Ukraine.
An investigation is currently ongoing regarding the drones shot down over the last two days. Its results will serve as the basis for Romania's official diplomatic protest to the Russian Federation.
"It is unacceptable and intolerable that the Russian Federation continues to violate the airspace of Romania, which is also the airspace of NATO and the European Union. Such actions are unacceptable, and we treat them with all seriousness together with our allies," stated the President of Romania.
