Police inspections underway in three regions over 'porn office' protection racket case

Comprehensive inspections of the police have begun in three regions due to a case involving the protection of "porn offices," the National Police reported on Thursday, UNN writes.

By order of the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, comprehensive inspections headed by Deputy Heads of the National Police — Maksym Tsutskiridze, Andrii Niebytov, and Serhii Kobets — have been sent to Zhytomyr, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, where on May 20, 2026, the SBU and the PGO, with the assistance of the MIA and the NPU, exposed police officials involved in illegal schemes,

- the National Police reported.

The inspection groups include employees of the Department of the Main Inspectorate, the Department of Internal Security, personnel support, and other specialized units.

"The purpose of the inspections is a comprehensive study of the activities of territorial units, assessment of the effectiveness of management decisions, compliance with official discipline, and prevention of corruption and abuse among personnel," the police stated.

As emphasized in the statement, "the position of the NPU leadership remains unchanged — not a single case of law violation, regardless of position or rank, will be ignored." "The National Police will continue systematic work to cleanse the ranks of the police of individuals who discredit the title of a police officer," the National Police noted.

As a reminder

A large-scale operation to cleanse the National Police system of corruption has been conducted in Ukraine, exposing a scheme to cover up "porn offices" in three regions, as reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko. According to the investigation, the leadership of territorial police units in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions allegedly ensured the unhindered operation of a network of so-called "porn offices."

Among those detained are the Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police (GUNP) in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the Deputy Head of the GUNP in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the First Deputy Head of the GUNP in Ternopil region, the Deputy Head of the GUNP in Zhytomyr region, and a driver from the motor pool of the State Institution "Service Center for MIA Units," the National Police and SBU reported.

According to the case files, the suspects were involved in "protecting" the activities of models on internet platforms with explicit content. Thus, for various amounts of illegal benefit, the officials, according to the SBU, guaranteed their "proteges" immunity from prosecution for illegal content.

Subsequently, as Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported, 5 people, including 4 top police officials in three regions, received notices of suspicion in the case of protecting "porn offices" after searches; luxury cars and 22 million UAH in cash were seized.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced  the first personnel decision regarding an employee involved in the case of protecting "porn offices." This refers to a driver of the State Institution "Service Center for Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine."

Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Police suspended from their official duties the police officials involved in the case of protecting "porn offices."
