The mayor of Enerhodar reported the presence of about 1,000 Russian troops at the plant. The plant lacks qualified personnel, and 6 reactors are in a state of cold shutdown.

About a thousand Russian military personnel, including weapons, are stationed at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in temporarily occupied Enerhodar. This was stated by the mayor of Enerhodar Dmytro Orlov in an interview with taz.de, reports UNN.

Details

There are about 1000 occupants there. Including their weapons. That is why there are high-explosive weapons in the immediate vicinity of nuclear facilities. This is a huge security risk that can have very serious consequences

- Orlov said.

He noted that since the beginning of the occupation, 6 reactors at ZNPP have been in a state of cold shutdown, which is the most dangerous way to shut down a nuclear reactor.

He also said that ZNPP lacks personnel, especially highly qualified ones.

An employee of a nuclear power plant who refuses to sign a contract with Rosatom no longer has the right to enter the territory of the plant. There are currently 2,000 qualified employees who have signed a contract with Rosatom. Now the Russians are looking for personnel. They have now hired another 2,000 employees. But these are not qualified workers

- Orlov noted.

Recall

The IAEA reported a decrease in the water level in the cooling pond of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The agency's Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concern about the nuclear safety of the plant.
