Acting Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara held talks with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson and Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik. They discussed partners’ support for drone financing, countering ballistic threats, and long-term projects. The Ministry of Defense reports, UNN transmits.
Held important talks with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson and Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik. I shared with my colleagues the conclusions from my working trip to combat units. The soldiers have specific needs. We are counting on prompt support from our partners in financing drones, including reconnaissance and middle-strike drones. Another urgent priority is countering ballistic and cruise missiles and jet-powered "Shaheds." For this, Ukraine already needs interceptor missiles and means for asymmetric operations
He added that, in addition to urgent needs, they discussed long-term projects.
In particular, the development of our European FREYJA antiballistic project, where we continue to count on the support of Sweden and Norway. Separately, he discussed areas of cooperation with each partner. With his Swedish counterpart, he discussed steps through the end of summer and the further development of aviation capabilities. He thanked Sweden for co-leading the Electronic Warfare Coalition, its support regarding Gripen, and other assistance. With his Norwegian counterpart, he focused on joint projects in the defense industry and strengthening air defense through various support mechanisms. Norway is one of Ukraine’s largest partners. I am grateful for its strong contributions to our defense capabilities
According to him, Ukraine is determined to build a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
Our unique experience of modern warfare and solutions tested on the battlefield will also strengthen our partners
We remind you
Ukraine expects the continuation of long-term support from the United Kingdom in key defense areas: air defense, aviation capabilities, countering Russian drones, and financing the production of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
