The Scorpenes diesel-electric destroyer, capable of carrying 18 torpedoes and missiles, will be built at the PT PAL shipyard in Indonesia, the statement said.

Under the agreement, Naval Group will transfer its technological know-how, while management, operation and maintenance will be carried out by the Indonesian military. The deal will create thousands of long-term, highly skilled jobs, Naval Group added.

According to him, these ships will strengthen the country's maritime sovereignty and help the Indonesian Navy achieve regional superiority at sea.

The 72-meter Scorpene submarine can dive to a depth of 300 meters and stay underwater for more than 12 days, carrying a crew of 31 sailors. Naval Group has sold six Scorpene submarines to India, four to Brazil, two to Chile and two to Malaysia.
