"Exactly a step towards peace": Zelenskyy thanked US senators for supporting sanctions against Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked both parties of the U.S. Senate for supporting the bill on sanctions against Russia during a procedural vote. The head of state wrote on Telegram, reports UNN.

Details

Zelenskyy said that today in Washington there was a "big meeting with representatives of both parties of the Senate".

More than 60 senators were present at it. I am grateful for this support and the high assessment of the results of our warriors on the front line and Ukraine's ability to fairly respond to Russia for its strikes on our people

- the President noted.

He clarified that during the meeting he discussed with the senators "many topics, and above all, anti-ballistic defense".

Thank you for your willingness to help. It is symbolic that today, on the day of farewell to Senator Lindsey Graham, a procedural vote took place in the Senate on the bill on sanctions against Russia, on which he worked so much. It was an honor to be present during the vote count - 86 senators supported the document. This is the first step towards implementing Lindsey's plans and definitely a step towards peace. It is important that this tool works

- Zelenskyy emphasized.

Reminder

The U.S. Senate procedurally voted for a bill on large-scale energy sanctions against Russia. The document aims to impose sanctions against Russian officials and strict tariffs on China, India, and other countries to reduce their dependence on Russian oil and gas.
