Elections for the Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine: most organizations have decided on candidates

Trade union organizations continue to nominate candidates for the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine. With less than a month left until the elections, it is already known that the current head of the FPU, Serhiy Byzov, is the favorite, UNN writes.

The elections for the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine are scheduled for May 21 this year. Trade union organizations will decide who will lead them during the IX Congress of the FPU. Currently, trade union organizations, both sectoral and territorial, are determining their candidates – they can be nominated until May 1.

Thus, the presidium of the central committee of the Trade Union of Pension Fund Employees of Ukraine recommended electing the current head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Serhiy Byzov, as the head of the FPU.

In total, his candidacy has already been nominated by 30 sectoral trade unions and 18 territorial trade union associations.

In addition to Serhiy Byzov, Pavlo Prudnikov, deputy head of Atomprofspilka, is also running for the position of FPU head. His candidacy was nominated by 4 sectoral trade unions, including the one he works for.

Another candidate was former MP Serhiy Kaplin, whose candidacy was nominated by the Trade Union of Fishery Workers of Ukraine. He was remembered for promoting himself on the story of a raped woman in Vradiivka, joining the "Vradiivka march," and fleeing on the eve of the Berkut riot police dispersing the protesters.

At the same time, 10 sectoral trade unions and 7 territorial trade union associations, including those from Vinnytsia, Volyn, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Ternopil, and Cherkasy regions, have not yet decided on their candidates.

Recall

As UNN previously wrote, FPU head Serhiy Byzov spoke about the plan to expand the trade union movement from 2.4 to 10 million people by 2030. The strategy involves working with the private sector.

According to him, the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine is changing its strategy, focusing on working with the private sector and preparing for new challenges in the labor market, particularly those related to the development of artificial intelligence.

The head of the FPU said that the Federation already has the first successful cases of working in new areas for trade unions. In particular, a primary organization was created at the Rivne Amber Plant, which included about 600 employees. In addition, negotiations are underway with representatives of large businesses regarding the involvement of their employees in the trade union movement. The FPU also cooperates with business associations in this direction, in particular CEO Club Ukraine
