The Argentine government has detained Dmitry Novikov, the leader of the La Compañía network. The organization discredited President Javier Milei for his support of Ukraine.

The Argentine government has announced the detention of Russian citizen Dmitry Novikov. He is one of the leaders of the extensive Russian influence network La Compañía, which operated against Argentine institutions and the government of President Javier Milei. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC of Ukraine (CCD), citing a report from the Netherlands Military Intelligence and Security Service, informs UNN.
Details
It is noted that the La Compañía network, also known as "Lakhta," is coordinated by Russian intelligence services and had ties to the Wagner PMC. Argentine Security Minister Alejandra Monteoliva called Novikov a "threat to the democratic order" who "came to destabilize and attack the institutions" of the country.
The documented activities of this network in Argentina aimed, in particular, at the systematic discredit of Javier Milei due to his open support for Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Hostile bot farms spread manipulations claiming that solidarity with Ukraine is "following orders from Washington" and "will cost taxpayers dearly"
They add that this incident is a clear confirmation that Russia views the information space as a full-fledged battlefield and is trying to spread its influence to all regions of the world where governments demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine.
"The Kremlin spares no resources to fund shadow structures that manipulate public opinion, create artificial divisions within democratic societies, and attempt to intimidate Ukraine's international partners," the CCD concludes.
