The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv changed the pre-trial detention measure for Nestor Shufrych, a People's Deputy from the banned in Ukraine party "Opposition Platform - For Life" ("OPZZh"), suspected of treason, to round-the-clock house arrest, a UNN correspondent reports.

Details

Thus, on April 16, the court changed Shufrych's pre-trial detention measure from detention with an alternative of paying bail in the amount of UAH 33 million to round-the-clock house arrest with the use of an electronic monitoring device (electronic bracelet). Since September 15, 2023, Shufrych has been held in custody.

It should be recalled that Shufrych is accused under Part 1 of Article 111 (treason) and Part 1 of Article 110-2 (financing of actions committed with the aim of violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order, seizure of state power, change of the borders of the territory and state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The prosecution in court is supported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

The prosecutors in the court session took a principled position, asking to extend the accused's pre-trial detention, drawing attention to the gravity of the criminal offenses imputed to Shufrych and the existing risks. At the same time, the decision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv is not subject to appeal

- stated the OGP.

Addition

On September 15, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine notified of suspicion of treason to People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych.

In February 2024, People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych was notified of a new suspicion of financing the Rosgvardia in temporarily occupied Crimea.

In September 2024, prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General sent an indictment against them to the court. The trial regarding these individuals is ongoing. They are suspected of financing actions aimed at violently changing the constitutional order and seizing state power (Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The People's Deputy is additionally charged with treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, after the occupation of Crimea, the accused organized the re-registration of real estate under Russian law, concluded a security agreement with an illegal paramilitary formation, and transferred funds to the Rosgvardia.

In addition, the investigation believes that the People's Deputy acted in coordination with a former high-ranking official of the National Security and Defense Council, who after 2014 moved to Moscow and is currently working for the aggressor country. He systematically broadcast pro-Russian narratives in public speeches and interviews, carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine.

In January, the Kyiv Court of Appeal changed the pre-trial detention measure for People's Deputy Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of treason, giving him the opportunity to be released on bail of over UAH 33 million. The bail was not paid.
