The official announcement was published via the Eastern Theater Command's WeChat social media account. According to which, these exercises cover a range of operations, including joint actions by the army, navy, and missile units.
The main purpose of the maneuvers is to test the combat readiness and interaction of units in "sea-air" patrol scenarios, attacks on sea and land targets, as well as blocking key areas and sea lanes. Such actions should help assess the ability of Chinese troops to conduct joint operations in complex environments.

The Washington Post informed that in mid-March, the Pentagon circulated a classified document signed by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, titled "Interim Strategic Guidance on National Defense." This document states that due to limitations in personnel and resources, the US Department of Defense is prepared to take on additional risks in other regions. At the same time, it is foreseen that the US will pressure its allies in Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia to increase defense spending and take primary responsibility for deterring threats from Russia, North Korea, and Iran.
According to The Washington Post, a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan is considered the highest priority scenario among other possible threats.
