Canada became the first country outside the European Union to conclude a security and defense agreement to participate in the SAFE program. This was reported by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the NATO summit, UNN reports.

According to her, although the basic rules of the program stipulate that most components must be produced in the EU, broader opportunities for cooperation open up for countries that have concluded relevant agreements with the European Union.
