Beat a fellow soldier in front of the formation and fled the unit – law enforcement detained a fighter of a UAF brigade

Law enforcement officers detained a soldier who beat a fellow serviceman in front of the formation in Dnipro, filmed it on video, and later deserted. He faces up to 12 years in prison for torture and desertion.
Law enforcement officers have located and detained a serviceman from one of the military units stationed in the Dnipropetrovsk region, who beat another serviceman in front of a formation and subsequently fled the unit. This was reported by UNN with reference to the State Bureau of Investigation and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Sphere of Defense of the Eastern Region.

In addition to the SBI, representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces, the National Police, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine participated in the detention. The man was detained in Kropyvnytskyi and brought to Dnipro. He was identified as a serviceman of the 155th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, despite having the lowest military rank and status, the man attempted to establish his own "order" among the personnel so that other soldiers would implicitly follow his instructions. To achieve this, he decided to conduct a demonstrative formation to show what awaits those who refuse to obey him
Context
On May 1 of this year, while on military service in the city of Dnipro, the suspect beat another serviceman during a formation. As established by the investigation, the victim was a man toward whom the suspect held a personal grudge.
The victim lost consciousness from numerous blows, after which the attacker tied his hands with plastic zip ties. Whenever the victim regained consciousness, he was beaten again with hands and feet. The process was accompanied by profanity and insults directed at the victim and was also filmed on video.

The perpetrator harshly suppressed any attempts to stop the violence. After the video was published on social media, he fled the unit. The victim himself was taken to the hospital.
The issue of notifying him of suspicion for torture (Part 1 of Art. 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), desertion (Part 4 of Art. 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and violation of statutory rules of relations between servicemen in the absence of subordinate relations (Part 2 of Art. 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is currently being resolved, the SBI reported. The detainee faces up to 12 years in prison.
Reminder
The SBU and police detained an employee of one of the mobilization departments of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center in Dnipro, who organized a scheme of systematic extortion of bribes from persons liable for military service.
