Bila Tserkva is a large city in Central Ukraine, a significant economic, cultural, and educational center of the Kyiv Oblast. It is located 80 km south of Kyiv on the Ros River, which is the city's main waterway. The city was founded in 1032 as the fortress of Yuriev, named after the Christian name of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. With a population of about 207,273 people as of 2022, Bila Tserkva is the largest city in the Kyiv Oblast, occupying an important place in the history and development of the region.
