Zelenskyy and Italian Defense Minister agree on cooperation in air defense and drone production

The President of Ukraine and the Minister of Defense of Italy discussed strengthening air defense and implementing the Drone Deal. The parties plan cooperation in the field of unmanned systems.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, during which the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the defense sector and possible formats of partnership. This was reported by the President's Office, writes UNN.

Zelenskyy thanked Italy for its political, military, and diplomatic support since the beginning of the full-scale war. Crosetto assured that assistance to Ukraine would continue. The President emphasized the need to strengthen air defense with additional systems and missiles.
Drone Deal and new cooperation formats
During the meeting, the implementation of agreements on the Drone Deal was discussed, as well as the possibility of building a common security system in Europe by analogy with the already existing cooperation with Middle Eastern countries.
The parties also considered both bilateral and multilateral formats of interaction, particularly within the SAFE program.
Areas of partnership
Zelenskyy and Crosetto noted the significant potential for defense cooperation. This includes capacity building, experience exchange, and industrial cooperation in the areas of air defense, unmanned systems, ammunition, and maritime security.
The parties agreed to continue working on the preparation of the Drone Deal and detailing the areas of further cooperation.
