US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink plans to resign - Media

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink intends to resign from her post ahead of schedule. This was reported to CBS News by three sources, reports UNN.

Details

Brink has not officially submitted a letter of resignation, but she has been making farewell calls to colleagues, sources said.

CBS reached out to Ambassador Brink and the State Department for comment, but did not receive a response.

One senior US official told CBS that her resignation was due to an unusual combination of personal and political issues, including recent layoffs at USAID.

"Brink is serving in a war zone away from her family, as Kyiv is designated an unaccompanied post where officers serve without bringing their families with them," the publication writes.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio intended to keep Brink, a career diplomat, in office and rejected an initial resignation she submitted in January as part of a standard rotation between administrations.

Brink's resignation comes at a crucial moment for US-Ukraine relations. The Trump administration has sought to mediate an end to the Russian invasion, in part by ending the policy of diplomatic isolation of Vladimir Putin, who invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Recall

Earlier, Zelensky expressed dissatisfaction with US Ambassador Brink, who "did not dare to declare" that the missile fired at Kryvyi Rih was Russian.
