A private system with remotely controlled M2 machine guns is already protecting infrastructure facilities. Businesses can order such services for their own protection.

A fragment of a private innovative air defense system based on remotely controlled machine guns, covering critical infrastructure, has started operating in Ukraine. This was announced by the advisor to the Minister of Defense, radio technology specialist Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, as reported by UNN.
Details
According to him, such solutions are already available to businesses, and the project's appearance earlier than the state one is explained by the speed of decision-making in the private sector.
The advisor to the head of the Ministry of Defense explained that a part of a private innovative air defense system, created on the basis of remotely controlled turrets with machine guns, is already operating in Ukraine.
He noted that journalists were shown how these installations are controlled and how the entire system functions.
Beskrestnov drew attention to the fact that after publications about this project, many questions arose in the comments regarding the appropriateness of disclosing such information.
At the same time, he emphasized that this is an example of an already working solution that can be scaled.
According to him, similar private remotely controlled turrets with M2 machine guns can operate at a distance of up to 2 kilometers. Their main task is to cover critical infrastructure facilities.
As Beskrestnov reported, any business can order private air defense services. He added that this project demonstrates how private air defense is already working in Ukraine, and that other companies can also implement similar initiatives.
Separately, Beskrestnov explained why the private project appeared earlier than the state one. According to him, business traditionally acts faster because it has fewer approvals and bureaucratic procedures.
Recall
At the end of March 2026, Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated that private air defense is already working and showing the first interception results. According to him, this refers to an experimental project launched by the government to involve the private sector in the air defense system.
